Journeys to the breathtaking landscapes of Halifax and the Maritime provinces are often overlooked. At Journeys by Chance, we hooray for this treasure that only attracts the few in the know. A hop over the North Pacific from Hong Kong, and you’ll find yourself immersed in historic sites, vast lakes, and a scattering of secluded islands, not to mention some of the world’s best whale watching. This self-drive adventure let us escort you back to times and experience some of Nova Scotia’s very best gems.

UNFORGETTABLE NOVA SCOTIA

On arrival in Halifax, the grand capital of Nova Scotia, collect your wheels for the rest of this epic trip. If you would like the freedom to gaze out the window and marvel the majestic scenery and simply enjoy the ride, we can certainly arrange a chauffeured car for you. Have a stroll around the downtown district and check out the York Redoubt National Historic site, a 200 year old fortification with spectacular views over the harbor. The barren coastlines of Nova Scotia are home to sweeping stretches of shore and sleepy seaside towns where the local fishermen catch some of the freshest lobster and scallops you’re ever likely to taste. Drive by quaint coastal villages along the scenic bay and stretch your legs at Kejimkujik national park, which is famous amongst the locals for its hiking trails and canoeing on mirror-like lakes.

HIGHEST TIDES

Towards dusk, you’ll arrive in Annapolis. Its grand Victorian mansions overlook the Bay of Fundy, which boasts the highest tides in the world. A vast 270 kilometre bay connects the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. This gorgeous area of water is rich with whales, dolphins and seals. Your base for exploration of this lovely town is a quaint inn. After a good night’s rest, rise early and jump on a boat. Speed out onto the plankton-rich waters to spot the friendly giants of the deep.

WINE AND DINE

Next you’ll ride off along the coast towards the northeast end of Fund Bay. We will set up an afternoon of wine tasting at one of eastern Canada’s most celebrated boutique wineries. Sample some of the best bottles in Nova Scotia. Grapes in this region inherit the maritime climate with a crisp and cool aroma. Not to worry if you have sampled a drop too much, we will make sure you’ll arrive safely to a hearty Canadian feast at the winery’s in-house restaurant. Munch on the freshly caught dishes such as Lobster, Scallop Chowder and soft chunks of Nova Scotia Red Deer – a true culinary utopia.

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Drive on and traverse the 13 kilometre long Confederation Bridge. The road clinches to the shore. You are sure to bespoiled to sweeping sights of the Cobalt Blue Ocean and infinite lush forests. Check out some of the most inspiring historical delights of Prince Edward Island and make your way to your historic boutique hotel. Hike in the scenic national park withits rolling sand dunes and beaches and tons of fresh air. Home to《Anne of Green Gables》, you may recall the beautiful memories of your childhood days.

EPIC CABOT TRAIL

From this island to the other, cruise to Cape Breton Island, a lovely piece of Scotland on Canadian soil. Scottish immigrants came here in 1800. Their traditions are still well preserved till today. Hike the picturesque trails along the northern shores of the cape where eagles soaring above and moose wandering along the roadside. Choose any trail that suits your energy level – but we would highly recommend taking the trail towards Glenora Distillery. You can sample a variety of premium whiskeys straight up or on the rocks! End your journey with one last lobster dinner and cheers to the glory of this pristine slice of Canada.
