Find your way in Morocco’s ancient Kasbahs, observe the landscape as it gradually converts from snow-capped mountains to fine desert sand. Embrace the solitude in your exclusive Bedouin tent in the Sahara and discover a genuine desert oasis in the exceptional Drâa Valley. Wander through some of Marrakech’s 9,000 medieval streets and fall in love with the vibrant souks.

MARRAKECH

As accustomed at Journeys by Chance, your private transfer will be waiting for you at Marrakech’s Menara International Airport and you will be whisked into the centre of the city where your lavish riad and all of its opulence awaits you.

On your first morning in Morocco take a stroll and explore the medina with the aid of a private expert guide. Venture into the ancient tanneries and take a fascinating tour of the rich spice markets. Grab a bargain in the souks, look out for handmade slippers and authentic Berber rugs. If all that bartering tires you out then why not recuperate in a house hammam.

Once evening is upon you, head to Jemaa el Fna, Marrakech’s main square for a bite to eat. You will find everything you could want, from the most aromatic tajines and flavoursome couscous to fresh fruit juice and traditional sweets. The air will be thick with aromas or spice and charcoal, as well as the high-pitch tones of the snake charmers flutes.

SAHARA

Say your good byes to Marrakech, and jump into your private 4x4, and drive off to the mountains. You will be looking out for the Moroccan Sahara, although there will be some incredible asides on the journey.

Drive the legendary Tichka Pass to the ancient fortified town of Ait Benaddou, which was designated a UNCESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. The site has some of Morocco’s most celebrated Kasbahs and is well worth a stopover.

Continue via the dramatic Todra Gorge to Morocco’s highest sand dunes. Erg Chebbi towers a wow-inspiring 300 meters above the desert plains below. Embark on a sunset camel ride and rest your head in a luxury desert camp.

Are you not entertained?

Waving a fond farewell to the Jebel Zireg you will re-join the remote desert road that connects Tazzarine and the Drâa Valley. The Drâa Valley will be your second UNESCO World Heritage site of your epic trip.

After a couple of nights in a tent, as lavish as they are, it’s time for some real luxury; spend the night in a beautiful Kasbah surrounded by palm groves on the banks of the river Drâa.

On your last full day stop over at the Jewish Kasbah of Tamnougalte and the Ouarzazate film studio where countless of our favourite films such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Prince of Persia, and Spy Game were filmed.
