There’s no better way to get under the skin of Taiwan than seeing it all. And this experience does just that. Begin up north in Taiwan’s capital, Taipei, and make your way down to Kaohsiung, Taiwan’s second largest city located south of the island. Along the way, check out unique landscapes, rural towns and awesome outdoor adventures.
Landing in Taiwan’s international airport you’ll be whisked away to the bustling city of Taipei to your luxury hotel. This seriously stylish hotel is situated in the most fashionable and prestigious district in Taipei making it the perfect base for your stay. On your doorstep are chic shopping streets, towering skyscrapers and stylish restaurant and bars. Let us design a DIY itinerary based on your personal preference. Taipei has a great rail system running under and overground, so jump on and visit all four corners of the city, popping into Zen temples, hot springs, Spanish forts and performance theatres.
Take the bullet train straight into the centre of Kaohsiung. Home to Taiwan’s largest port, Kaohsiung is bursting with life. The city’s main artery is the Love River which winds through the city and its banks are filled with historical buildings, museums and coffee shops. No time to waste! Check out the Confucius temple, lotus pond or a breath-taking sight of 480 golden Buddhas at a Buddhist Monastery and as a harbour city, you simply can’t miss out on some local seafood treats. Seafood congee, eel noodles and oyster egg omelettes and plenty more, you might just want to work it all off with a comfortable bike ride around the historic harbour.
Here at Journeys by Chance we live to explore new destinations, especially those that are a little off the beaten track, and we like to share this Taiwanese treasure with you. Head to Taiwan’s outlying island, where the ocean is deep blue sea, islanders are charmingly innocent and countless temples worshipping the Sea God. This is a unique destination to finish up your trip with some serious R&R. Ride a scooter like the locals and circle the small isle for some beautiful ocean views. It just happens that the warm and nutritious water make it one of the best green back turtle sanctuaries in Asia. So why wait? Dive down with your dive or snorkel instructor, one, two, three, five huge turtles are leisurely roaming around you. Top of your adventure with some seriously yummy local lean pork sausages and crispy donuts and then retire to your laid back homestay for some much needed chilling under the sun!
